Tun Abdul Malek was born in year 1899 at Kampong Chengkau, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. He is the only son of three siblings and was raised in village life environment. He receives early education at Sekolah Melayu Chengkau, Negeri Sembilan in year 1907 before he furthers his education to Kolej Melayu Kuala Kangsar, Perak in year 1910.

            As one of the student who receive education in the British education system, Tun Hj. Abdul Malek doesn’t let go the opportunity to be active in those activities organized by college especially in sports activity such as tennis, cricket and soccer. He is good in soccer and has represent his college in several series of competition that has been held.
