ADMINISTRATION

 

 

Tun Hj. Abdul Aziz commences his career in year 1926 as a temporary teacher after he passes Cambridge School Certificate. In the same-time, Allahyarham takes Malay Administrative Service exam and got first place in that examination.

 

In 3rd August 1926, after obtaining success in that examination, Tun commences his career as Land Collector Officer before appointed as Assistant District Officer and further as District Officer in Selangor state. After serving for 15th long years in Malay Administrative Service, Tun was promoted in Malayan Civil Service on 3rd August 1941.

 

When British introduce Malayan Union in Malaya in year 1946, Tun Hj. Abdul Aziz was designated as Assistant Secretary of Selangor Resident Commission Office.

 

Allahyarham's leadership and charisma undeniably got confidence by all sides. On 1st February 1948, he was designated as first Selangor State's Assistant Secretary. In March, Allahyarham was elected to follow Administrative Course at Oxford University, London.

 

In year 1949 he returns from London, Tun had been assigned to held several important positions at state and federal level. At state level, Tun was appointed as district officer of Teluk Anson. On 22nd January 1952, Allahyarham was appointed as Member of Executive Board Kuala Lumpur and Assistant Secretary of Defense Division of Internal Safety.

 

On 15th April 1952, Tun was appointed as Negeri Sembilan’s Chief Minister and as Chief Minister of Selangor in 1st September 1954.

 

In struggle of Malaya's independence, Tun Hj. Abdul Aziz is one of the most important leader that has been fighting together with Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj and also other leaders. This proven between the year 1956 and 1957, Tun join the independence delegation that was held in London to discuss matters which related with Constitution. In year 1958 also, Tun and a few of negotiation members has went to London again to discuss on Malaya Defense Agreement.

 

In June 1963, delegation to London was held to discuss Malaysian Federation's formation. Tun has become Federal Counseling Team member of Government Committee.

 

Apart from that, Tun Hj. Abd. Aziz was designated as Chief of Public Services, namely Permanent Secretary Department of Prime Minister and Secretary of Malaysia Cabinet Ministers.

 

As one of the leading negotiator of Constitution representing Malaya, in year 1963, Tun Hj. Abdul Aziz again was selected as one of the delegation member of Malaya, which negotiates with Commonwealth Office regarding the entry of North Borneo, Sarawak and Singapore into Malaysia. Tun further becomes Chief of Federation of Malaya Negotiation of Government Committee to discuss the condition and laws regarding Sabah and Sarawak state's entry into new Malaysian Federation.

 

In year 1964, Tun retires from the post that he was holdings. However, in the same year, Tun was assigned to be Public Services Commission Chairman until year 1971.

 

Tun Hj. Abdul Aziz's leadership was outstanding when he was accountable in some heavy duty such as:

 

    Special Staff to Brunei to investigate reports by the Federal Officers serve in that country. (21st December 1955)

 

    Chief of Custom Committee, whereby he determines and recommends the ceremony that should be followed on D.Y.M.M Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Puteri Sharifah Salwah’s marriage ceremony. (17th May 1962)

 

    Committee member who studied the proposal to implement five working days in a week. (May 1962)

 

    United Kingdom's conference by Malaysia on Malaysia’s formation.

    Committee orientation between Borneo states.
